I have a minor distate for some political bloggers

Last week, I wrote about a blogger named David Seaman who was a contributor for Business Insider.  Business Insider is much like another website that I wrote about in the past called Triond.  Both websites allow anybody and everybody to start accounts and contribute stories to their website.  The same is true for the "Free Speech Zone" of the Daily Planet, so there is nothing inhMORE »

Weekend Update | Shirley Sherrod / Americans with Disabilities / Sheriff Bob / Seward's Oak / more

Keep checking back - updated throughout the weekend!

The right-wing attack on Shirley Sherrod succeeded in introducing a heroic figure to the mainstream media, after they - and the Obama administration and the NAACP - recovered from their initial knee-jerk defensive response. Time Magazine published an article introducing the real Shirley Sherrod and her long-time struggle for justice within the USDA:  MORE »

Saturday morning: Tweeting for news and entertainment

Woke up this morning at about 6:30, as the lights and air conditioner stopped running, so I unplugged all computers (avoid power surge when it comes back on), grabbed my trusty Blackberry, and tweeted and Facebooked inquiries. Then looked up Xcel's number, called, and waded through automated messages - yes, I am calling about a power outage. Okay, here's my phone number. Xcel already knows about the outage and predicts that it will be fixed by "about 11:33 a.m." Right. And they'll call to tell me if that time changes by more than an hour and call to tell me when power is back on. Now that sounds like a good system—I'll see whether the calls actually come.MORE »

Listening to Doug McGill

FREE SPEECH ZONE | Stop Minneapolis Latino Youth From Joining Gangs

The Minneapolis Latino community has support from organizations throughout Minneapolis that can help them in many different ways.  However, there is one issue that the community has to face more than anything; the issue of having a child, brother, or friend involved in a gang, just hoping that the next time they see that loved one, he is okay, not injured, and alive.

(After a last-minute scramble for funding, it now appears that they may continue for a while - or not.) Metblogs claimed more than 700 bloggers in 57 city-specific blogs.MORE »
