My name is Tammy Ward and I live in North Minneapolis, in the Harrison Neighborhood. 

I have lived here almost four years and have seen many changes.  Harrison is truly a vibrant and upcoming neighborhood. Change is steadily happening in a positive direction. I decided to show in pictures the eclectic feel of Harrison though murals painted on some of the buildings in the neighborhood.

Marking progress—two years after the Northside tornado

Two deaths, dozens of injuries, hundreds of families displaced, thousands of trees lost and millions of dollars in damage. These numbers only begin to describe the effects of the tornado strike on May 22, 2011. Residents of Jordan, Folwell and Webber-Camden were among those most affected along the tornado’s 3.5-mile path, and it is in these neighborhoods where the storm’s destructiveness remains most evident two years later.

University Avenue in Northeast Minneapolis to be resurfaced this summer

Though inclement weather has hindered progress, Michels Pipeline workers were out Saturday, May 4 installing new gas lines for CenterPoint Energy. Xcel energy has also been working along University Avenue on service upgrades, to avoid tearing up the street again after the upcoming road resurfacing. (Photo by Margo Ashmore)

Say goodbye to bumpy rides on University Avenue; it will be resurfaced between Central Avenue and 27th Avenue sometime this summer.
