Women's Night Out - with an international flavor

More than 100 women who live and work in the Cedar-Riverside area celebrated "Women's Night Out" on October 24 at the Brian Coyle Center, an event designed for women in the community to get to know each other and build community.  Neighbors, service workers, and girls mingled, sampled different kinds of ethnic food, and were entertained by a fashion show and open mic in the event, now in its fourth year.

Rainbow Rumpus launches new book project in Minneapolis

Ashanté spent time with Rainbow Rumpus at the Black Pride celebration in 2008, and is part of a poster project designed to raise awareness that more than nine million kids with LGBT parents live in the United States.

Rainbow Rumpus, a local online magazine for youth with LGBT parents, will be holding a book release launch party of their new Printable Picture Books project at True Colors Bookstore in Minneapolis on October 24.  The event for preschool and early elementary children and their families will include storytelling, live music, face-painting, and a bake sale, and children who come to the store on that day will receive a downloaded pdf of the books in Rainbow Rumpus's current Printable Picture Book series.
