THEATER | A new voice (Julia Elizabeth Babb) and a vet (Julian McFaul) animate Naked Stages at Pillsbury House

It's almost not fair to review something like Naked Stages, because that's not the point. The Jerome Foundation funds a nine-month commissioning process during which four emerging performance artists are encouraged to develop new work but to concentrate more on the process than the final product. THEATER | Despite Sonja Parks's strong performance, "No Child..." at Pillsbury House is nothing new
I was excited to see Sonja Parks in the revival of No Child... at Pillsbury House Theatre. I'm a fan of Parks's work generally, and the actress received an Ivey Award for her performance in the production's initial run last year. Unfortunately, it wasn't five minutes into the production when I realized that I had seen the play before. It's the same plot that we've seen in To Sir with Love, Stand and Deliver, Dangerous Minds, and dozens of other movies about teachers making a difference in students' lives against all odds.MORE »
