Kites on thin Ice?

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has already determined to reschedule the Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival to the backup date of January 21, 2012. Providing suffecient temperatures over the next week, Lake Harriet will again be covered in color with kites, kids, and kids of older years from Noon to 4 p.m.
Notice: I have been contacted by one of the sponsors, the East Harriet Neighborhood Assocaition; "After much consideration, the DNR and Minneapolis Parks decided the ice on Lake Harriet will not be at a sufficient thickness by Saturday."
Here are some scenes from about a year ago, when the ice was thick but the wind was a little thin.

The 2012 Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival is reset for Saturday, January 21st, Noon to 4 p.m.. This is the alternitive date, with the hope for the ice to provide a safe and fun surface.
Thanks to the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board; People for Parks; and the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council; East Harriet Neighborhood Association;and the MN Kite Society for their sponsorship.
