Triangle Park Creative

2010 Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival

January 11, 2010

I did get my kite fix last Saturday. The cold was hard on my aging camera batteries. They seem to drain more rapidly, but as they are years old with many cycles on them I am not surprised. I stated to shoot around 12:30. The last image my batteries were able to capture was 3:00. On the walk home I gathered a few necessities from the Hardware store; in all a brilliantly productive day.

A drawback of the icy event was that ice also covered the western exit from the Lake Harriet Parkway. Cars with problems of tire traction found themselves spinning when they attempted to head up the hill at about West 43rd Street. It caused a number of cars to have to back down the hill and make multiple attempts. So there was a backup along the Parkway as those who traveled by motor vehicles had to wait their turn to slide uphill. Those of us able to walk, or parked farther away escaped the congestion.
