Calling all pasty Pats

Garden of Eva, the florist at the corner of Snelling and Marshall in St. Paul, often advertises free roses for people with a given name. (They were once mocked by the bike shop across the street: gunther pick up a free kickstand.) Now it looks like Crown Video, at Franklin and 27th in Minneapolis—just across the street from Daily Planet HQ—is getting in on the act. That's a pretty generous offer given how common the name Pat is. I wonder whether a Pat could just take the video, or if it's mandatory that he/she accept both offers simultaneously.

Minnesotans losing homes A record 92,500 Minnesota homes are either in foreclosure or in danger of foreclosure, reports the Star Tribune. It is tricky business reviewing a work in progress, putting the writer in a barely tenable position. How can you be fair to the playwright, casting comment on a script that's still in development? Critique the weaknesses and you're a villain for kicking the play's legs out from under it before it's had a chance to actually stand on them.
