Fringe-For-All 2—Skunkape Sexkult

Single White Fringe Geek (and Mom) is the blog of Matthew A. Everett, one of five bloggers covering the Minnesota Fringe Festival for the Daily Planet.

I was never sadder to see the red light go on and hear the applause kick in at Fringe-For-All than I was on this one. (And that actually includes my own preview.) I got the distinct feeling the monkey was about to make his appearance, but they ran out of time. Bummer.

But now, of course, I’m all the more intrigued. You can see the ape sex talk radio interview excerpt they did manage to get out by checking out the Fringe’s YouTube page for the video clip.

I’ve been curious ever since I shared the table at the playwrights panel Fringe showcase with writer Greg Carlson at one of the St. Paul libraries. That post will give you still more info on why I’m interested in this show, but suffice it to say, I am. They’re definitely worth a look – and thanks to online video, you can look.

After hosting “Menopause – The Musical,” can it really be that big of a stretch for The Lab Theater to be the home of Skunkape Sexkult? I think not. In fact, I believe it’s a step up the theatrical evolutionary ladder (no pun intended) that the Fringe is taking over for a bit. (Yes, sometimes I’m an elitist. Deal with it.)
