On the 40th anniversary of Stonewall, the Twin Cities are louder and prouder than ever
This Saturday will see the kickoff of the Twin Cities’ 37th Annual Pride Celebration. Organized by non-profit group Twin Cities Pride, the GLBT extravaganza is the third largest pride celebration in the United States. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Our Rights, Your Rights, Human Rights.” Last year, the event attracted over 450,000 attendees from across the country and is said to be the second largest community event in the state, following the Minnesota State Fair. Minneapolis MOSAIC to kick off with a rapid-fire celebration of Minnesota's diverse arts scene
Even among all the exciting events happening in the Twin Cities this summer, the decision whether or not to attend the Minneapolis MOSAIC kickoff still ought to be a no-brainer. The event is free and takes place in downtown Minneapolis from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. this Saturday, June 6. The opening night celebration, titled Many Worlds. One Night, will feature more than 40 of Minnesota’s music, theater and dance acts, as well as fine art displays and exhibitions. Fresh Traditions III: Combining past and present in Hmong clothing design
From swimsuits to formal dresses, traditional Hmong clothing themes blend with fashion designers’ visions in the Fresh Traditions design show, sponsored by the Center for Hmong Arts and Talent (CHAT). CHAT is now taking applications from designers for Fresh Traditions III in October, their third annual fashion design show.
