Triangle Park Creative

Kenny Park

Located on 58th St. W in the Kenny neighborhood, Kenny Park’s unique location, sandwiched between Susan B. Anthony Middle School on Irving Ave. S, and Kenny Community School on Emerson Ave. S, make it an integral part of the community.

Recreational amenities at Kenny Park include fields for baseball, softball and soccer, two tennis courts and a half court for basketball. In wintertime the park offers ice rinks for skating and hockey. The totlot playground and wading pool make the park a favorite destination for kids.

The Neighborhood Center provides a wide variety of family friendly programs and activities for kids and adults. To make available an even better and broader range of recreational services, Kenny Park is part of a Community Service Area with Armatage Park, Windom South Park and Lynnhurst Park.

Kenny Park opened in 1955. The park, school and neighborhood were named after Sister Elizabeth Kenny, an Australian nurse who developed a method of treating polio and founded the Sister Kenny Institute in Minneapolis.

Historical Profile: More information about this and other parks is included in Parks, Lakes, Trails and So Much More, a richly detailed account of the histories of Minneapolis’ renown recreational system.
