WEDNESDAY PICK | Art 4 Shelter: Make a date with a mystery artist

Courtesy Art 4 Shelter

Anyone who's been to the Soap Factory's $99 sale knows the concept: you buy the art before you learn who the artist is (though you might be able to make a pretty good guess), and proceeds go to a good cause. The Soap Factory's sale benefits the nonprofit gallery itself; the Art 4 Shelter event taking place at the Burnet Gallery on May 9 will raise funds to support the work of Simpson Housing Services, an agency that helps the homeless. There's no telling whose art might be on the walls, but one name that's been dropped is Alec Soth. The price is right, especially if you nab the Soth: just $30.

Coverage of issues and events affecting Central Corridor communities is funded in part by a grant from the Central Corridor collaborative.
