FRIDAY PICK | Human Combat Chess: En garde, Fischer!
Courtesy Six Elements Theatre
If Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone whetted your appetite for deadly life-size games of chess, you may want to consider going to church—both to repent for your bloodlust and to indulge it. From June 22-30, Six Elements Theatre will be staging choreographed games of human chess at University Baptist Church, complete with concessions and play-by-play commentary. If there was ever a setting where Bob Dylan's "Only a Pawn in Their Game" could be played as a Jock Jam, this is it.
Coverage of issues and events affecting Central Corridor communities is funded in part by a grant from the Central Corridor Collaborative.
