A disco-era hymn to Minnesota
Those of you who were listening to the radio in 1975, remember that great band Northern Light? No? They hit #86 on the Cash Box chart with their groovy anthem "Minnesota," thanks in part to promotion on KDWB by DJ John Sebastian. The song was finally released on CD in 2005, along with Northern Light's 1977 follow-up "Think Snow." Both songs are a little hard to come by, but not as hard as the "Minnesota" b-side: "Theme from 'Minnesota,'" just recently uploaded to YouTube. One important element you lose on that instrumental version, though: the loon solo after the hand-clap breakdown.
