SUNDAY PICK | Best of the Bakken Museum: Sunergy
Courtesy Bakken Museum
What's the Twin Cities' most underrated museum? Partisans of the Museum of Russian Art make a strong case, but others are absolutely religious about their belief that the Bakken Museum—devoted to the whys and hows of electricity—is the best Minneapolis attraction you've never actually been to. Or have you? If not, there's no time like the present: the museum is hosting its annual 10 Best Days of the Bakken event simultaneously with the Aquatennial. The event wraps up on July 22 with a "Sunergy Day" featuring art-making in the Green Energy Art Garden and an informative talk by Rebecca Lundberg from Powerfully Green.

Minneapolis history and county history
The Bakken is an absolute treasure, but the Hennepin History Museum gets my vote for most under-rated museum in Minneapolis. Want to know what happened during city council meetings in the 1950s? Want to know who built your house, and who lived in it? Want to know about the times when Minneapolis' school children were harnessed like horses to pull buildings around? Want to see the faces of the celebrated First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry (the first volunteers to the Union Army in 1861)? Want to hear tapes made at the Coffee House Extemporé?
There's a million stories at Hennepin History Museum. Stop by and be fascinated.
Oh, and during the Aquatennial? The history of that fine event is on display: crowns, gowns and all.
