Triangle Park Creative

Q: Who IS that? A: Jahna Peloquin, stylish scribe

November 23, 2011

Name: Jahna Peloquin
Twitter: @jahnapeloquin
Websites: jahnapeloquin.com, letoilemagazine.com

What's your job?
"I'm a contributing writer and stylist for Vita.mn, fashion editor for l'étoile magazine, founder/contributor at LOL/OMG!, and I have an unfortunately-named local fashion blog."

Other than your job, what are your claims to fame?
"I tap dance. I designed my own dance costumes when I was 11. I was the lead stylist for Voltage: Fashion Amplified for five years running. I once ran into a drunk Pete Campbell at Clubhouse Jäger and got him to let me take pictures of him doing the Charleston."

What's your relationship status?
"My grandmother has always called me a spinster."

Where are you most likely to be seen?
"Clubhouse Jäger and Nick and Eddie are pretty much my Cheers and I use Urban Bean Coffee as my 'office,' but generally I go wherever there's good music, cocktails, food, fashion, art, and/or friends: SooVAC, Rogue Buddha Gallery, CO Exhibitions, xyandz Gallery, Fox Tax Gallery, the Walker Art Center, First Avenue, Kitty Cat Klub, Triple Rock Social Club, Red Stag Supperclub, Marvel Bar, Muddy Waters, BLB, the Mall of America, Cliché, Blacklist Vintage, Nicollet Mall."

Where are you least likely to be seen?
"Anywhere downtown Minneapolis on a weekend night. Calhoun Square. Nightclubs with one-word names. Party buses."

With whom are you most likely to be seen?
"My l'étoile cohorts Kate Iverson, Beth Hammarlund, Brian Gioielli, Juleana and Anthony Enright, Marina Maric, and Robyn Lewis; plus Emma Berg, Danielle Morris, MinJo Oehlke, Hannah Silk Champagne, Raul Osorio, Max Lohrbach, Maritza Ramirez, Chris Larson, Elliot Manthey, Allan Kleckner, Cassie Hanson, Stephanie and Cory Lake, Robyne Robinson, Rachel Thompson, Richard Anderson, Christian Erickson, and Janey Winterbauer."

Where were you born?
"Golden Valley, and raised in a small town in Minnesota. You know, the kind where the Catholic church is kitty-corner from the corner bar, which is in fact called the Corner Bar."

What neighborhood do you live in now?
"Carag, thankfully within stumbling distance of BLB and Muddy Waters."

What's your ride?
"A Honda Civic 2011. Before that I drove a Honda Civic 2004, and before that, a Delorean-esque Honda Accord 1988, which I basically drove into the ground once it hit 325,000 miles. I come from a family of Honda lovers."

What's the best way for someone to start a conversation with you?
"Don't Facebook chat me if we've never met. Don't be obviously self-promotional. Don't be a douche. Don't be a comedian. Don't be offended if we've met and I don't remember having met you. Do bring up fashion, art, music, or something you know I'm involved in."
