THURSDAY PICK | Soul Sounds open mic at Golden Thyme
Courtesy Tish Jones
Tish Jones is one of the Twin Cities' most inspiring spoken word performers and teachers; the latest among her successful spoken-word open mic series is "Soul Sounds," held every Thursday at Golden Thyme Coffee Café on Selby Avenue in St. Paul. Those whose writing skills need a little polishing can attend workshops prior to the performances on first Thursdays, and each week features a special guest invited by Jones. On June 21, the guest will be another educator/performer: Jake Virden, who's currently working with the Youth Education Justice Initiative.
