What's your job?
"I'm curator of architecture and design at the Walker Art Center, where I'm also chief of communications and audience engagement. I was design director at the Walker for about 12 years. Before that I was a graphic designer for about 25 years. This makes me 100—but in dog years."

Other than your job, what are your claims to fame?
"I live in a concrete house in South Minneapolis. I was in a film called Objectified. I'm having lunch this week at the White House! Seriously. But all of these are somehow connected to my job. So, again, I guess I got nothin'."

What's your relationship status?
"Gay-married. Sadly not here in Minnesota, but in Canada, the other Minnesota."

Where are you most likely to be seen?
"Urban Bean in the morning. Gather at lunch. Blaisdell Y after work. Walking or biking around Lake Harriet and Calhoun, sometimes Isles. Blackbird Café for dinner. Grand Café for brunch. Tanglewood Gardens. Neighborhood walks at night. Jack's."

Where are you least likely to be seen?
"Block E. Sports bars. Strip clubs. McDonald's. Country western concerts. Tea Party rallies."

With what person are you most likely to be seen?
"Scott Winter, my spouse."

Where were you born?
"West Point, New York. Yes, the military academy. But I grew up mostly in Indianapolis."

What neighborhood do you live in now?
"Kingfield, with East Harriet tendencies."

What's your ride?
"'10 Tiguan 4WD; '00 Marin; and a rarely used bus pass."

What's the best way for someone to start a conversation with you?
"They speak first."
