Black press of America brings national convention to Minneapolis

The Twin Cities metropolitan area is fortunate enough to have two successful Black-owned community newspapers. Insight News and the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder are co-hosting the National Newspaper Publishers Convention, a four-day conference for the Black Press of America. Representatives from 200 newspapers across the country are expected to attend the conference, which began June 24 at the downtown Minneapolis Radisson hotel. Tracey Williams is the publisher of the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder. She spoke to KFAI News Director Ahndi Fridell about the current economy's impact on smaller, community-based newspapers.
