Home Depot give away a Northside frenzy

October 24, 2008
The backyard of the Northside Neighborhood Housing Services building was a frenzy of activity for two hours last Friday.

"It was really wonderful to see all of my neighbors past, present and new all gathered together in the name of home improvement." said Terra Cole, a resident of the Hawthorne neighborhood who was able to pick up some wainscoting for her porch. "I have significantly enhanced the value of my home"

Thanks to a collaborative charity partnership established between Home Depot of Plymouth and NHS, a giveaway was planned for October 17 and 18th. The items being given away included vinyl flooring, carpeting, oak doors, 120 bags of potting soil, and numerous items for home repair and maintenance.

Though planned for Friday and Saturday, the event only lasted a few hours on Friday as over a three hundred people descended on the location and picked up over 2,500 donated items.
